The cultural hub Oslo knows and loves is back and buzzing this summer 🐝 With over 400 different cultural events planned for the coming months, its easily one of the most vibrant scenes in our beloved town. ❤️

These “Fiskehjelle” (wooden pyramids for drying fish) constructions did not land in the capital’s shores in 2017 by default though. Its story begins in northern Norway, in the beautiful place in Lofoten called Svolvær. After a succsesfull start at an art festival there in 2010, with sauna and lights, it moved on to bigger things 🙌 The SALT project moved and grew, and ended up in Sandhornøy, where they stationed a huge “Fiskhjelle” on the northern beach and filled it with art installations and music. The Sandhornøy project lasted 2014-2015, and the constructions were first torn apart by the autumn storms, but the SALT team was determined and built it all back up. After a successful re-launch of the art project the plan was to move it around the arctic, to places like Iceland, Alaska and Russia. But instead, it ended up in Oslo (and we are so happy for it😅). SALT founded itself as a new cultural hub in Oslo, and they sure made it happen with their steadily increasing number of events and shenanigans.

This mix of Berlins art districts and northern Norway’s proud fishing heritage, makes this wood saturated art project really stand out in the sea of glass and metal along Oslo’s skyline Bjørvika. Here you can enjoy one of Oslo’s biggest outside serving areas, chill in hammocks, go for a sauna 🧖‍♀️(they even do rituals), see a play or a comedy show, or go to a concert with the most exiting bands and artists Norway has to offer. Things on the menu for June is for example:

✨Bingo Bar – Hilarous show-based bingo concept with prizes 12.06

✨Sassy and “booty”full Bootyswing Burlesque Show 18.06

✨Their own produced immersive sauna theatre “Blòt” 24.06

There’s something on the program for everyone and the diversity makes SALT beautiful, exiting and a vibrant place to visit. Or just chill there and have a beer, they have host Oslo’s best DJ’s every weekend! 😊
